How do I add players to my team?

How do I add players to my team?

ℹ️ Available for team members with Scorekeeping rights.

When you add a player to your team in Mingle Sport, a player profile is created. The player profile is where all of that player's data lives inside the team — name, number, preferred position, line-ups, goals, assists, and attendance.

There are two ways to add a player profile to your team:

  1. Share the invite code with the player. They create a Mingle Sport account, join the team with the code, and claim their player profile themselves.

  2. Add the player's name directly in the team section. This creates a player profile without an owner — the real person can claim it later when they join with a Mingle Sport account.

Where can I add a player in the app?

The main place to add a player profile is the Team section of the app:

  • In the upper right corner, tap the invite button to share the join code.

  • In the player list, tap Add player + to create a new player profile by name.

  • Tap the more button (three dots) on any profile to add a photo, player number, preferred position, and other details.

You can also create a player profile on the fly while recording goals or assists during a match, setting up the line-up, adding players to the match player list, or voting for the MVP after a match — useful when someone joins late or a name is missing from the team sheet.

What's the difference between a player profile and a Mingle Sport account?

A player profile is the record in your team that holds a player's data — their name, number, position, stats, attendance, and line-up history. Every player you add to the team has a player profile, whether or not a real person is behind it yet.

A Mingle Sport account is the personal login that belongs to a real person — a player or a parent. An account holder can then connect to a player profile in one of two ways:

  • A player with a Mingle Sport account can claim their own player profile. Claiming links the profile's historical stats to the account, so everything stays with the player as they move between teams or seasons. Once claimed, the player can RSVP for matches and training, vote for the MVP, and share media, cheer, and comment on team events.

  • A parent with a Mingle Sport account can link to their child's player profile to act on their behalf (see the next section).

A player profile without a connected account still works perfectly for line-ups, scorekeeping, and stats — you just don't get the actions that require a logged-in person.

Can a parent connect to their child's player profile?

Yes. Both the player and a parent can create a Mingle Sport account and connect to the same player profile — they do it in different ways:

  • The player claims their own profile when they sign up for a Mingle Sport account and join the team with the invite code. Claiming links the profile's historical stats (goals, assists, appearances) to the player's account. See Claim a player profile.

  • A parent links to their child's profile from their own Mingle Sport account, so they can RSVP for matches and training, update their child's information, and receive reminder notifications. See Managing parent-child relationships.
